Feeling Distant from God and Yearning for His Presence?

Do you ever feel distant from God and yearn to experience His presence?

David said, “My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God?” (Psalm 42:2).

God made us to thirst for Him. This is His gift, His invitation and call to come to Him.

He provided ways for us to draw closer to Him – through reading His Word, through praying, and through praising Him. Look around you, about you, within your heart and glimpse God’s fingerprints in your life. You will be so touched by His goodness to you that gratitude will fill your heart and flow from your soul. Praising Him is a natural result of gratitude and mysteriously causes us to become more keenly aware of His Presence. He truly does inhabit the praises of His people!

But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel (Psalm 22:3, KJV).

Try keeping a “Gratitude Journal.” It is an amazing way to live in God’s presence! Writing down the things we are thankful for causes us to daily LOOK for our Lord’s fingerprints in our lives … they are everywhere! Also, we become more aware of His working on our behalf and have a personal journal of His faithfulness to us!

Do you ever feel like David, distant from God and hungering for more of our Lord’s presence in your life?

Why not try gratitude – not only in your daily routine and in your times of joy, but also in your times of tears? Our Lord is always with you to give you strength, hope, and peace (through His Word and His Spirit within you, through the hug of another and in numerous other ways). Praise Him anytime  - anywhere. Praising Him will change your perspective …and change your life!

For what will you praises Him today?
