Power to Press On, to Persevere Powerfully

While working at my computer today, a warning popped up stating I was running on low battery, about to lose power… even shut down. It made me think about times when I have actually felt that way!

Do you ever feel drained by daily responsibilities, depleted by concerns, even devoid of power?

Isaiah had experienced this same weariness. He shared the remedy that never fails when he said: Come, all you who are thirsty,
come to the Waters;
and you who have no money, come, buy and eat!
Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost (Isaiah 55:1). The LORD will guide you always; He will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail. (Isaiah 58:11).

David was acutely aware of his neediness and he also experienced the sufficiency found only in the Lord. He said God satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things. (Psalm 107:9)

Jesus knew that each of us would experience times like Isaiah and David. He promised that if we come to Him, all who are weary and burdened, that He will give us rest (Matthew 11:28). He invites us saying let anyone who is thirsty come to Me and drink for whoever believes in Me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them (John 7:37-38).

 Is your “battery” low? Are you experiencing exhaustion, possibly even running on empty? What is standing in your way of coming to the inexhaustible Source of power, to the only One who can supply us with strength – His strength – and meet our every need?

Will you come – today, tomorrow, each and every day? Will you come and be filled with His power and peace to press on – to persevere?
