How to Experience Limitless Love with God

Excerpt from Our Beloved, Our Friend: Limitless, Liberating Love:

Do you know, have you experienced, limitless love? Love that is unreservedly unconditional, that does not depend in any way on you, on what you do or say? A love that loves and values you “just because you are”? Love that ceaselessly does what is best for you? That is selfless, not selfish? That is not a feeling or a fantasy but a fact? A love that is conveyed not only by what one says to you but also by what one does? A love that knows no limitations, that liberates you from your self-centeredness, sins, and fears? That sets you free to be all you were created to be. Could it be that you, that we all are searching for a love that is perfect?

Wecan know this genuine love—this limitless, liberating love—for there is One Who loves you and me relentlessly with a deep, perfect love, One Who actually is the embodiment of this love. His name is Jesusour Beloved, our Friend (I John 4:8-10).

Jesus’ love is more than limitless, surpassing even the grains of sand of all the seashores.

It is more liberating,

more life-giving,

more life-changing than anything on this earth …

and it endures forever.

We can intimately know and experience this limitless, liberating love because thousands of years ago:

God penned His love letter to us, the Bible, as He inspirited men of long ago to write it (1 Timothy 3:16). His words have stood the test of time throughout the ages (Romans 16:26). And His written Word reveals the living Word.

He personified His love for us in Jesus, His only Son. The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us  (Matthew 1:18-23, Luke 1:26-35, John 1:1).

He proved His own love for us in this: while we were still sinners, Christ died for us on the Cross in our place and rose to live forever at God’s right hand interceding for us (Romans 5:8, John 3:16, Romans 8:34).

He is present with us every moment of our lives through His wonders in His world, His works on our behalf, and the witness of His Holy Spirit to our spirits (Romans 8:16, Hebrews 10:15) of His limitless, liberating love (Matthew 28:20).

And it is as we know and live in His love, that we are enabled to truly love others and ourselves. We love because He first loved us (1 John 4:19).

Let Jesus satisfy your soul’s hunger as no one and nothing else can. Let His Spirit speak to your spirit. Lean upon our Beloved and hear His heartbeat, just as the disciple John did. Listen with your heart as well as your head as you read His love letter to you. Hear Him say afresh, you are My beloved, you are My friend. And may we all, with renewed awareness of the depth of His love, say to Jesus, You is my Beloved, You is my Friend (Song of Solomon 5:16 KJV).

What difference could—does—His limitless, liberating love make in your life? Have you allowed it to comfort, change, and challenge you? If so, how?
