Your Worth and Your Works

Have you ever questioned the value and purpose of your life?

Listen with the ears of your heart to what your Lord says to you through Paul in Ephesians 2:8-10. Let these truths permeate your soul:

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

God’s amazing gift of love – salvation by faith in Christ alone, relying on His death in our place for our sins – causes us to love Him in return. And when you love Him you want to do things for Him, to serve Him!

You are of priceless value – invaluable – simply because you are God’s handiwork. He created you “uniquely you” with specific and needed things to do for the building of His Kingdom.

This precious gift of our salvation not only brings serenity in our souls, but also the satisfaction of essential service that is of eternal worth!

Do you feel that God will not use you because you have been bruised or battered or broken by this world, by your sin? God’s gift of grace in Jesus covers it all! Remember how God changed and used people like Abraham who lied, like Rahab who was a prostitute, like Paul who was a murderer. Their salvation (by God’s grace through faith) caused them to devotedly serve their Savior as the Holy Spirit worked within them. And He desires no less for you!

You have immeasurable value. God wants to use you to fulfill His purposes in this world, no matter what your past or present.

Will you accept His glorious freeing grace and this great privilege – and responsibility – to walk in the wonderful works He has planned for you?

What do you need to do today to discover and develop your God-given purpose? More on this topic next week!
